Hi everyone, we are talking today about Medical Billing Training CCO. I am Boyd, your webmaster here at cco.us, along with Alicia Scott, our education director. We’re talking about medical billing versus medical coding, and a lot of people misunderstand the differences and maybe why you want to take a look at medical billing first, Alicia. Tell us a little bit about maybe why.

Alicia Scott: There’s several advantages to the medical billing course and the medical billing job arena. It’s much easier to get a job in medical billing, the need is high, and there is, therefore, a lot of availability unlike in medical coding when it’s sometimes hard to get your foot in the door. That being said, the pay scale is actually quite good for a medical biller. It’s very comparable. It’s not better than for a coder starting out. In addition, there’s a lot of remote jobs available as a medical biller and you don’t see that very often in medical coding, let alone for a new coder.

Boyd Staszewski: Right. Let’s take a look at our course here at cco.us for the medical billing course that we offer. Take us through the membership site and what that looks like when people purchase.

Alicia Scott: When you first go in to your student area and you open up the medical billing course, this is what you’re going to see. Let me just peruse through these chapters real quick so that you can see some of the things that you’ll be learning, very importantly, all the different types of major insurances from workman’s compensation, the military insurances as well as commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid. You’ll feel very comfortable working with them and the forms involved after you get through the course.

Boyd Staszewski: Awesome. Let’s take a look at one of the modules, so people can actually see what it looks like when they actually log in.

Alicia Scott: When you click on one of the chapters, you’re going to get a drop-down, and all you have to do is click on that again, it goes away, but I’d like to show you what they look like. The first thing you’re going to have is a video lecture. It’s going to look like this. When you get done with the video lecture or even before you start the video lecture, you can do slide handouts, so all the slides for your lecture is in a printable form. That way, you can take notes.

After you’ve finished all of that, we have a test. You log on right here, and your coach, your personal coach will have your results after you’ve completed it, and you can ask questions. This is an open book test, which is fabulous. After you do these for each chapter, we’ve got a fantastic final that will prep you for the credential, the board exam.

Boyd Staszewski: Awesome. You talked a little bit about our personal coach. What is different about CCO’s billing course when it comes to personal coaching?

Alicia Scott: CCO is known for their warm and fuzzy atmosphere and that the people we have instructing and coaching in the courses are very passionate about that area of that field, and it’s no different for the billing course. Know that when you have a personal coach, when you have questions, they’re going to be there to answer your questions and they’ll help you til you figure it out. That’s something that you get when you have a face-to-face instructor in a school.

Online is the same way when you have a personal coach. There’s several ways to stay in contact now, and it’s easy to feel comfortable and know that your coach wants to see you succeed and you can tap into them any time you want. One of the perks with the course is that you can probably get through the course in 4 to 6 months, maybe less depending on your life, but you have access for a year, and that means you have access for a year to your coach.

Even after you get out there in the field and you’re working, if you have problems or you’re struggling, say, with a workman’s comp case, tap back into your coach and tap back into the course and look at your notes. It’ll be there for you for a year, and if you want to extend it after that, you can. Just contact the help desk and for $12.95, you can go as long as you want.

Boyd Staszewski: There you have it. That’s a quick overview of CCO’s Medical Billing Course. We look forward to seeing you in the CCO members area, and until then, goodbye from Boyd and Alicia.

Alicia Scott: Bye, guys.
